Tour  Summary

A comprehensive in-depth look at Angkor, Siem Reap and the surroundings provinces,  ancient culture and traditions, modern day history and practices. ..with a few Hidden Cambodian twists.   It can be booked on any date, for any amount of people, private or with a group. It also can personalize and tailored to you and any special interests.

 

Day 1:

Early morning arrival  Airport transfers to hotel, and check in. 9.30am Air con taxi & Ministry of Tourism guide for day at Angkor.

Collect your Angkor Wat three day temple pass on the way into the Angkor conservations park.  Tour of Angkor Thom and the small circuit to include Angkor Wat, the Royal City of Angkor

 

 the smiling faces of the Bayon, the royal viewing Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrance of the Elephants, Victory Gate, jungle clad Ta Phrom &  Ta Keo. Lunch in an aircon restaurant,

A Cultural evening of Apsara dancing in a traditional  air con theatre with a served dinner.

 

Day 2:

Aircon taxi and guide to Bateay Srey Temple, Citadel of Women, located 35kms from Siem Reap, followed by Kbal Spean, River of a Thousand Lingas (20 minute treck or jungle walk)& Banteay Samre, Prasat Kravan & Banteay Kdei.

Lunch at a local restaurant 

  Return to Angkor for the afternoon. Shopping for antiques and "Les Artisans d'Angkor” for high quality crafts.

Dinner in atmospheric restaurant overlooking Siem Reap river & overnight. 

 

Day 3:

2 day 4WD & Combo trek to Phnom Bok, Beng Melea and Koh Ker temples, ancient pre-angkorian temples located outside Siem Reap.

730am Depart through Angkor complex to begin the two hour journey to Koh Ker. Phnom Bok - a steep hill with a flat summit 20kms outside Angkor complex containing ivy clad sandstone temples dating from the 9th century & spectacular views. Once occupied by the KR & still maintained by the army as a post, one can see oiled rotary machine guns and other relics of a war gone by. Expected climb to be 20 minutes to reach the top.  Depart for Beng Melea, thought to be the pro type for Angkor Wat and is situated on the old Angkorian highway that connect to the Great Phreah Khan of Kampong Svay. It has over 11 galleries and  filed with hanging ferns and butterflies – just what you imagine you would find in Cambodia!  Lunch in Beng Meela at a local restaurant. Continue on to Svay Leu, 15kms away from Beng Melea to visit their small market. This marks the last location of a large village and a crossroads market.

As we travel to Koh Ker our guide will explain Kulen Mountain as we pass by the base of it, the complex of Koh Ker and its place in the ancient Cambodia empire, the number of temples to be found  and the related symbolism and its history to date, including the French explorers, during the Khmer rouge to it present day protection under Apsara Authority, other wise know as the “ Key to Angkor” .Vehicle will drop guests at temples and continue to ready lodge for overnight and dinner. Sunset from lodge balcony overlooking Koh Ker,  dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4:

Following breakfast, Walk through Koh Ker Village and explain the house, the community structure, the agri practices,  the hunting tradition, the school and the history of the village. Walk to the second built well in Koh Ker. Continue on to a second village, expected 30 minute walk or travel by oxen and cart. 4 kms.  Suggestions: Bring two water filters with the group $14 x 2 to present to village chief as a token. This is a very poor village and Hidden Cambodia has built two wells here to facilitate the 80 families who like here, a total of 4 in the Koh Ker area.

Return to tour temples of Koh Ker and return for lunch in Koh Ker VillageTime allowing Walk to Rum Jake, a flat sandy path through the forest, inaccessible by vehicle.Depart for Siem Reap at 3.30pm.Celebratory drinks at Hidden Cambodia base on arrival.Free for dinner. Overnight at hotel

 

Day 5:

Tonle Sap Lake: Morning cruise & tour of Kampong Kleng, meaning the village of the stilts, a lively commercial fishing community and village located south of Siem Reap and on the edge of the Tonle Sap lake.    Lunch at delicious Khmer restaurant on return.

Free time until transfer to Siem Reap International airport for departure flight

  Inclusive of                                                                                        5 nights hotel accommodation in twin sharing or double room, 5 daily buffet American breakfast transfers, 5 lunches, 4 dinners ( 1 with performance), all ground transfers as per itinerary, sightseeing and entrance fees to temple complexes and Tonle Sap lake, English speaking Ministry of Tourism for Angkor,  English speaking guide Hidden Cambodia guide as required, iced water. All meals are standard menu with flexible restaurant options.
